Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction today granted the motion of the investigator for the case of owner of Fifth Channel TV Armen Tavadyan to extend the term of custody, meaning Armen Tavadyan wil remain under custody for another two months.

Armen Tavadyan’s attorney Aram Orbelyan told reporters that the court denied the motion for bail and stated that the court hasn’t provided the text of the decision to them. “When the court provides the text, we’ll read it, and I assume there will be grounds for appeal. Currently, I don’t know the grounds on which Tavadyan has to remain under custody for another two months,” he said.

Tavadyan was arrested under the case of the offer that Varuzhan Mkrtchyan (presenting himself as a supporter of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan) made to a victim of the events of March 1, 2008 to refuse to testify, according to a video prepared by the Police of Armenia.

Tavadyan was arrested on suspicion of bribing or forcing to make a false testimony, or false conclusion, or incorrect translation.
