Georgia’s ex-Prime Minister and ex-internal affairs minister Vano Merabishvili has been released after spending 6 years and 9 months in prison, reports Sputnik Georgia from the scene of the event.

“The leaders and activists of National Movement, European Georgia and several other opposition parties are greeting him near the prison,” reports Sputnik Georgia.

Analysts say Merabishvili is the author of the most successful reform in Georgia, that is, the creation of a new type of police. It was during his term of office that there was zero tolerance of crime and order on the streets was ensured through overcrowded prisons.
