Goris, a city in Armenia’s south, will turn into the main IT center in Armenia for a week in April.

A number of tech events will be held on April 13-19 within the framework of Tech Week 2020, a representative of Instigate group and one of the initiators of the Tech Week Spartak Kyureghyan said.

The goal of Tech Week 2020 is to create a single platform and unite the most famous IT companies of Armenia around the idea of decentralization. The technology week will be an annual event and will be organized in different provinces.

“The city of Goris was the first to be elected, since it was there that the idea of organizing Tech Week was ‘born’. During the closing ceremony the next host will be announced,” he added.

The technological week is initiated by representatives of Instigate company Spartak Kuregyan and Davit Grigoryan, as well as  gg company co-founder Khachatur Grigoryan.

All of them are sure that the IT sector can play an important role in proportional and decentralized development of the country. Such events, according to them, will not only inspire the locals, but will contribute to increasing the level of business activity in the regions. Speaking about the idea of holding IT events in the regions, gg co-founder Khachatur Grigoryan emphasized that many cities in Armenia need to create their own “brand”. Tech Week 2020 will contribute to the development of Goris on the one hand, and ensuring the availability of technology on the other.

“Any city, any village in Armenia should become a part of the IT community,” he said.

The participants will discuss both technical issues of IT sector as well as mechanisms to attract investments. The opening of a new Armat laboratory, gg office will take place during the event, while Instigate Mobile will recruit a new team of engineers in Kapan. The event is sponsored by SoftConstruct and Skill.
