YEREVAN. – Visa liberalization is envisaged by the Armenia-European Union (EU) Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which will allow for starting a dialogue on this topic. Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, head of the EU delegation to Armenia, stated this today during the Armenian parliamentary hearings on the process of implementation of the CEPA.

The ambassador noted that last year the European Commission saw progress in implementing the visa liberalization agreement. She added, however, that the agreement of all 27 EU member states is needed to launch a visa liberalization dialogue with Armenia. But Wiktorin noted that they hope this agreement would be reached in the near future and that the dialogue would soon begin.

As per the EU envoy, in fact, this means that they have to sit down and develop a roadmap that will eventually lead to a visa liberalization agreement. Andrea Wiktorin added that the EU member states’ representatives in Armenia are involved in the process.
