YEREVAN. – Armenia's victimization by corruption is an internationally accepted fact. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this at consultation today at the government.

According to him, the World Bank’s Elite Capture of Foreign Aid report that has recently been published in rather scandalous conditions indicated the countries where a considerable part of the foreign aid has been appropriated by elites and moved to offshore zones.

"As you might guess, Armenia is in the top 20 of those countries," Pashinyan said. "But it is not from international reports that we have to get an idea of all this, because the plunder of a very large part of all that has taken place right before the eyes of us all, and our law enforcement system must be able to provide educated legal wording to the truths we all know.”

He also emphasized that the fight against corruption cannot and should not be interpreted in any way as something to say with any negative nuance toward legal entrepreneurship in Armenia. "Business and economic activity in Armenia should be fully protected from any illegal interference," the PM said. “We put only one task before legitimate businesses: to pay legal taxes. After this point, what we say to entrepreneurs remains the same: get rich and make rich; we will create all the necessary conditions for this."
