There are problems with the law on acquisition of Armenian citizenship that were intentionally created for receipt of bribes. This is what High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia Zareh Sinanyan told reporters after the government session today.

“The laws have been made complicated intentionally so that Armenians who wish to acquire citizenship solve their problems by giving bribes in order to save time and not get frustrated,” Sinanyan said, adding that his wife will also have to face these problems soon.

“My wife will also have to be a part of this bureaucracy. Her parents were born in Bulgaria, she was born in the United States, and her last name has been changed. This is why she will have to go from one window to the next,” Zareh Sinanyan said.
