Canada said it would no longer cover the safety of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, Reuters reported

“As the Duke and Duchess are currently recognized as Internationally Protected Persons, Canada has an obligation to provide security assistance on an as-needed basis,” the government statement said. “The assistance will cease in the coming weeks, in keeping with their change in status.”

The couple is expected to mainly live in Canada, preserving a home in England, not far from Windsor Castle. Despite being welcomed in Canada, discontent has arisen in society that taxpayers must pay for their safety. The couple also abandoned plans to use the SussexRoyal brand because of UK rules governing the use of the word royal.
