YEREVAN. – The Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of Armenia today endorsed the ratification of the agreement on cooperation of CIS member states in the case of a nuclear accident or radiation, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reported from parliament.

One of the key objectives of this agreement is to strengthen the measures that are accepted to prevent nuclear accidents and their consequences.

The governments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan (with reservation), Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have signed this agreement, which Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Hakob Vardanyan had submitted to the aforesaid committee for debates.
