A group representing the UK car industry has cut its forecast for sales this year by 23% amid the coronavirus impact, Reuters reported.

According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the figure represented a 25% fall from the number of new car registrations in 2019.

Car sales in March decreased by 44% or 254,684 units compared to the same period last year, while first-quarter sales were down by 31% to 483,557.
