“If a deputy of the National Assembly comes to the podium and disseminates information that is obviously misinformation, which may lower Armenia’s international reputation abroad or lead to dissemination of misinformation by the wide layers of society, I believe the particular deputy needs to be held liable. There is no active mechanism for this yet, but I believe it is very important to introduce a mechanism for holding a deputy liable for the statements he or she makes from this podium,” the deputy said.

Hakobyan offered to think of a mechanism to have the particular deputy be held liable for the phenomena caused by that deputy’s statement to a certain extent. “If the parliament doesn’t find a way to have the opportunity to prevent such irresponsible actions, the whole political team must be held liable because a person can’t offend another person for the latter’s activities and then make it seem like nothing has happened,” he said.
