During a briefing held after the session of the Commandant’s Office, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said the coronavirus situation in the country is rather grave, and it is safe to say that there is a second wave of the virus.

According to him, the government and the Commandant’s Office have been discussing the extent to which the rules of the Commandant’s Office comply with the current situation. “Based on our discussions, we can unequivocally say that the rules are adequate to the situation and are effect in terms of substance. The problem is observance of those rules. Unfortunately, there is a problem with observance,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the government and the Commandant’s Office will apply coercive measures, particularly in regard to wearing face masks.

“Administrative levers will become tighter. Strict measures will be implemented on interregional roads, checkpoints will be placed in order to check and see if everyone is wearing face masks. However, the main task is engagement of dialogue with citizens,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
