During a briefing held after the session of the Commandant’s Office for the state of emergency in Armenia, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan declared that government officials will also strictly follow the rules set for citizens.

According to him, dozens, if not hundreds of companies and enterprises have been closed down in this period. “Hundreds of citizens have been fined, hundreds of drivers have been fined, and their cars have been towed. For instance, today, 35 taxi drivers and dozens of bus drivers were subjected to liability in the course of two hours in one administrative district alone. Yesterday, almost all cafes and restaurants in central Yerevan were closed. The government is going to implement strict measures. Everyone needs to understand that violation of the rules of the Commandant’s Office will entail liability. The goal is to help raise citizen’s awareness, not punish,” he said.

In his turn, Deputy Prime Minister, Commandant Tigran Avinyan stated the following: “Over the past few days, restrictions on economic operators have markedly grown in terms of number. The Commandant’s Office set 12 sector-specific rules for various types of economic activities. We apply restrictions on over 100 economic operators on a daily basis, and I hope this number drops over time.”
