During a parliamentary session today, Minister of Economy of Armenia Tigran Khachatryan declared that the Armenian government is taking necessary steps to support the tourism sector during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the minister, as of today, 800 beneficiaries are part of the third program for mitigation of the consequences of the coronavirus alone, and 270 of them are companies operating in the tourism sector, including hotel complexes and public food outlets.

“Despite the short period, the government has also succeeded in providing special loans worth AMD 1.5 billion to travel agencies,” the minister stated, adding that the Ministry of Finance and the State Revenue Committee are seeking new solutions and will provide information about them.

Once again, the minister stated that the state support will be granted to businesses with good credit histories, as well as bona fide taxpayers.
