A 1,000-year-old rose is blossoming in Germany.

This sunny rose blossoms near the World Heritage Site - Hildesheim Cathedral.

According to legend, it was blooming there more than 1000 years ago - even before the construction of the first chapel in 815, Deutsche Welle reported.

However, modern studies have shown that the age of this bush is no more than seven centuries, which, however, is also impressive.

Photos from dpa were taken in Hildesheim at the end of May.
