Microsoft intends to replace dozens of journalists working on the MSN website with robots, BBC reported.

Microsoft claims that replacing these journalists with artificial intelligence is a reassessment of doing business.

"Like all companies, we evaluate our business on a regular basis. This can result in increased investment in some places and, from time to time, redeployment in others. These decisions are not the result of the current pandemic."

The Seattle Times notes that by the end of June, about 50 people will lose their jobs.

Some laid-off employees say that artificial intelligence may be unfamiliar with editorial policies and that the site will contain inappropriate content.

One journalist noted: "I spend all my time reading about how automation and AI is going to take all our jobs - now it's taken mine."
