Responding to deputies’ questions while presenting the report on the activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia in 2019 during a parliamentary session today, Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan said the Prosecutor General’s Office spent a major part of the year revealing corruption schemes.

According to him, the Prosecutor General’s Office assessed the damage caused to the state or communities to be AMD 105,700,000,000. Moreover, over the past year, the Prosecutor General’s Office has succeeded in recovering only AMD 12,400,000,000. “The regular fight against corruption remains one of the strategic priorities of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Last year, the number of investigated corruption cases grew by 26.6% compared with 2018,” Davtyan stated, adding that the number of corruption cases forwarded to courts has grown by 60% compared with 2018, and the number of people having applied to courts has grown by 35% compared with 2018.
