Armenia built its strategy on the fight against the coronavirus in phases and made certain adjustments in different phases of the spread of the pandemic. This is what Commandant for the state of emergency in Armenia, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan during the briefing held after the remote session of the Commandant’s Office.

“We can set aside two strategic phases during the past five months. For about six weeks, we set restrictions on movement and economic restrictions, and during this period, we expanded the capacities of the healthcare system and created sufficient opportunities for testing.

We have also created an opportunity to produce tests in Armenia and have already launched production of tests of 100,000 imported reagents. The first batch of 350 tests will be delivered to the National Center for Control and Prevention of Epidemics, and based on the evaluations of the capacities of the Molecular Biology Institute, 3-5,000 tests can be produced on a daily basis,” Avinyan said, adding that in the second phase the government lifted some restrictions and introduced safety rules and rules of conduct.
