Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on the allies to increase funding to defeat the ISIS, despite a budget cut amid the COVID-19 pandemic, AFP reported.

The US and Italy initiate a meeting of 31 countries to combat ISIS terrorists. The US Special Forces killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in October 2019.

"That said, our fight against ISIS continues, and will for the foreseeable future. We cannot rest," Pompeo said. "We must continue to root out ISIS cells and networks and provide stabilization assistance to liberated areas in Iraq and Syria."

"It's true that the pandemic is putting enormous pressure on all of our budgets, but we urge your nations to pledge toward our goal of more than $700 million for 2020," he said.

According to him, the US has committed to allocate $ 100 million to support Iraq.
