President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian today hosted Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France Jonathan Lacôte; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy Vincenzo del Monaco and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Avet Adonts also attended the meeting.

The head of state particularly touched upon the situation created as a result of the coronavirus and talked about a number of challenges, including the economic hardships, the issue of food safety, the recent events in Armenia, as well as the Constitution and the constitutional reforms and answered the diplomats’ questions regarding these topics.

Talking about the constitutional reforms, President Sarkissian said the following: “The Constitution needs to be balanced and based on checks and balances. I am glad that the government has started working in this direction. I support implementation of the constitutional reforms.”

Taking the opportunity, the head of state expressed gratitude to Armenia’s international partners for supporting Armenia in these difficult times. Stating that everyone is living in difficult times and that they will continue for a long time, the President attached importance to mutual assistance and joint efforts. “If we don’t work together, we will limit our success. I am thankful for our friendship,” he said.
