YEREVAN. – This year we will have an unprecedented number of newly constructed and reconstructed medical facilities. The minister of health, Arsen Torosyan, stated this at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the government of Armenia.

"Except for the twelve that are being implemented by the Urban Development Committee, we have two other large facilities to be built within the framework of the World Bank. The construction of the first of them, Martuni [town] Medical Center, will start in the coming days. The tender for the complete construction of Vayots Dzor [Province] Medical Center will also be announced soon. (...). We will have the opportunity to soon carry out another urgent construction; we are waiting for the signing of the [respective] agreement by the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development. Due to the coronavirus, we will build a new infectious disease hospital in Vanadzor [town],” said the minister.

He added that after doing all this, they will have practically no medical institution in the whole territory of Armenia that will need significant investment or capital overhaul. Arsen Torosyan clarified that all this will last for 2-3 years.
