Today Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan, who is on a working visit to Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) convened a consultation with prosecutors of garrisons in Artsakh. Among the attendees were Minister of Defense-Commander of the Defense Army of Artsakh Jalal Harutyunyan and Military Prosecutor of Armenia Vahe Harutyunyan.

The operative situation of crimes in the Defense Army, the revelation of crimes and the effectiveness of prosecutorial oversight over the lawfulness of preliminary investigation under military cases were touched upon during the consultation.

The course of implementation of the agreements reached for execution of the joint actions with the Defense Army aimed at preventing heavy crimes and suicides and strictly maintaining disciplinary rules in the armed forces was discussed in detail.

The Prosecutor General assigned the prosecutors of the garrisons to always keep the situation in sites in focus with surprise visits to military units in full observance of the safety rules.

During the consultation, the measures for sparking more interest of commanders in strengthening of discipline during on-duty service on the frontline and the recording and revelation of criminal manifestations in the armed forces were touched upon, and the main actions for deepening of cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Defense Army for increase of legal knowledge and development of skills of the military units’ leaderships were earmarked.
