US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday that Washington is continuing to work to establish a dialogue with North Korea and is very hopeful the talks can continue, Reuters reported.

“We continue to work to establish dialogue and have substantive conversations about how we might deliver this really good outcome, this outcome of delivering peace and stability to the entire peninsula,” Pompeo told reporters.

US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met for the first time in 2018 in Singapore. But their second summit in 2019 in Vietnam failed.

Earlier, President Donald Trump said he was open to another meeting with Kim Jong-un. However, North Korea - clearly disappointed that there are no signs of easing US sanctions on it - said in recent weeks that it does not intend to meet again with the US.
