Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan today received US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Lynne Tracy, as reported the Ministry of High-Tech Industry.

Greeting the Ambassador, the minister touched upon the challenge facing Armenia and the US as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and voiced hope that it will be possible to overcome the created situation through combined efforts. Talking about the pandemic, the Ambassador stated that in spite of the deceleration of processes and the decrease in active investments, the US government is still interested in making investments in Armenia.

Arshakyan stated that Silicon Valley is one of the major directions for Armenia’s cooperation in high-tech industry and that the ministry’s Virtual Bridge Program will help ensure the visit of 45 specialists to Silicon Valley to engage investments and gain experience at Draper University. Lynne Tracy particularly praised the fact that Armenia links its progress in high technologies to knowledge and education and pinpointed the enhancement of opportunities for involvement of experts.

During the meeting, the parties also touched upon the processes of risk assessment and management conditioned by cyber security and the latest 5G coverage and the problems with the operation of PayPal, YouTube and Google in the Armenian market which are being solved to create more suitable conditions for Armenia’s economic operators.
