YEREVAN. – We have not been working for a long time because of a group of activists; the mine has not been operating since 2018. Liana Hovsepyan, one of the former employees of Lydian Armenia company, mentioned this in a talk with journalists Wednesday.

According to her, several inspections have already been conducted at Amulsar gold mine and no violations have been found there. "Seeing that our voice is not being heard, our petitions are not being processed, we decided to apply to the administrative court. Our petition is being processed, we have been joined by 100 former Lydian employees. The approach of the government—which is silent, does nothing [regarding this matter]—is incomprehensible to us," she added, in particular.

And Armen Melkumyan, the lawyer of Lydian Armenia's former employees, informed that the lawsuit of 36 ex-employees had already been submitted to the administrative court, and the first court session will be on August 6. "Another 86 people have joined this lawsuit. Our demand is to recognize the inactivity of the mine as illegal. (…). If there will be no judicial act in our favor, we have the opportunity to submit this lawsuit to the ECHR. In that case, if we take into account the high salaries received by the employees [of Lydian Armenia], our demand from the state will be 30-35 million dollars," the lawyer said.
