Armenian News - NEWS.am presents a daily digest of Armenia-related top news as of 31.07.2020:

A total of 38,550 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed as of Friday morning.

The total number of tests conducted so far is 163,736, and 1,982 of them were performed in the past one day.

Also, 8,587 people—a drop by 290 in the past one day—are currently being treated.

In total, 738 patients—an increase by 10 in the past day—have died so far of this disease.

"The Ministry of Health expresses its condolences in connection with the death of the nurse of the ambulance brigade Susanna Parsamyan. We are grateful for her work over many years, and we wish strength and patience to her family members, relatives, and friends," the statement said.

"The Armenian government has nominated Vahram Avetisyan for the position of a judge of the Constitutional Court," the statement said.

  • In the morning, some of the armed forces of Armenia were brought to a high level of combat-readiness, in accordance with the 2020 plan for sudden inspections of the combat-readiness of the troops. Defense ministry spokesperson Shushan Stepanyan wrote about this on her Facebook page.

"(…) in order to check the troops’ combat-readiness, ability to act quickly in the created situation, to clarify the matters of cooperation between the staff, given and supporting forces and means, to conduct division and shooting management exercises," she added, in particular.

She did not comment on what case Vanetsyan was invited to visit the NSS.
