YEREVAN. – The ban on foreign citizens entering Armenia by air has been lifted, but the respective restriction on the land border continues; deputy prime minister Tigran Avinyan noted about this at Wednesday’s special session of the National Assembly.

"The option of obtaining an entry visa at the border checkpoints [of Armenia] has been temporarily lifted for foreign citizens, and they can [now] enter Armenia only on the basis of a visa or an electronic visa issued by our diplomatic missions or consulates abroad; with this regulation, the goal is to increase the manageability and predictability of the influx of people [into Armenia]," added Avinyan, who is also commandant of the current state of emergency in Armenia due to the COVID-19 situation in the country, noting that changes have been made also in the self-isolation procedures for people coming to the country from abroad.

In particular, he said that according to a preliminary decision, foreigners with the coronavirus will also be treated free of charge in Armenia.

From now on, if a person entering Armenia has not been hospitalized, he can either self-isolate by his choice or undergo a PCR test during self-isolation; and in case of a negative result of this test, he can come out of self-isolation.
