YEREVAN. – I don’t recall any promise we made about Amulsar and didn’t keep; deputy prime minister Tigran Avinyan stated this at Wednesday’s special session of the National Assembly, answering the question by Ani Samsonyan, a member of the opposition Bright Armenia faction in parliament, as to why the promises related to the fate of the Amulsar gold mine project were not fulfilled.

The deputy PM said that the issues related to Amulsar had many layers, and their previous respective statements were still valid. "In general, the demands made by our esteemed environmentalist colleagues, and regarding the complaints that the Lydian [Armenia] company [which is to implement the project] was raising against the government, as well as all the issues that will be discussed later, (…) should be addressed with the procedures of the government's decision in accordance with the law," Avinyan added.
