Russia has started production of the coronavirus vaccine that was developed by Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, TASS reported, citing the press service of the Ministry of Health.

As reported earlier, Russia on Tuesday became the first country to formally register a COVID-19 vaccine.

It was named Sputnik V.

Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said that Russia had already received applications from 20 countries for the supply of 1 billion doses of this vaccine.
