Rescuers' Day is celebrated in Armenia on September 4, which has been declared as such by a government decision in 2008.

On this occasion, all the employees of the rescue service of Armenia receive congratulations from their administration and colleagues, and respective solemn and festive events are organized during which awards and souvenirs are given to the rescuers who have stood out.

Armenia’s rescuers have extensive experience in dealing with the aftermath of emergencies.

And one of the main lessons learned from the devastating earthquake that hit northern Armenia 1988 was the creation of rescue services—both in the country and the other then Soviet republics.
