YEREVAN. – I virtually rule out such a possibility. Alen Simonyan, vice speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, on Tuesday stated this in a talk with journalists in the NA, when asked whether he considers it possible that former chief judge Hrayr Tovmasyan will be elected President of the Constitutional Court by the latter’s new composition.

"I do not consider it is logical. I rule it out because the crisis [over the Constitutional Court] was also created because Hrayr Tovmasyan had appeared in the post of a judge of the Constitutional Court," he said.

Simonyan added that they had not discussed this matter with the newly elected judges of the Constitutional Court.

As reported earlier, the National Assembly on Tuesday elected Yervand Khundkaryan, Artur Vagharshyan, and Edgar Shatiryan as new judges of the Constitutional Court.
