Exports of live sheep and goats from Armenia increased by 256 percent in January-July 2020, compared to the same period last year; about 41,000 small cattle were exported, for a total of about $3.4 million. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote this on his Facebook page.

"This growth is a direct result of a number of steps taken by the government, and the export of small cattle benefits many businesses who have heeded my urges to 'keep sheep.'

I continue to argue that this is one of the promising sectors of our agriculture, which can also be a very effective tool for overcoming poverty—if, of course, many farmers in many of our villages show the will to join forces, form rural cooperatives, and take advantage of the opportunities provided by the government. We will encourage in every way that it will actually happen," Pashinyan added.
