During a government session, you declared that the number of jobs has increased by 6,600 this year. You also declared that salaries have grown by an average of AMD 13,500, but until then, there was information according to which nearly 70,000 jobs were cut due to the coronavirus. Does this mean those 70,000 jobs were restored in addition to the 6,600? This is what leader of Bright Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Edmon Marukyan asked the Prime Minister in parliament today.

In response, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that 70,000 jobs were cut in April and that all of those jobs have been restored, and based on the statistics of July, the number of jobs has increased by 6,600 compared with July 2019.

“People are submitting reports on jobs and paying taxes for this, meaning these figures are figures created after the preparation of specific reports. These reports are reports on income tax. I will assign officials to provide the analyses that I was provided with. There is no human factor because there is an automatic digitized system,” the deputy said.

Pashinyan admitted that it is assumed that there are jobs that have simply come out of the shadow. “Yes, the reduction of 70,000 jobs in April was one of the factors that helped predetermine the government’s future actions in the context of the coronavirus,” he said.
