Minister of Health of Spain Salvador Illa says the Spanish government has proposed to declare another lockdown in Madrid.

Illa has advised all Spanish cities, including Madrid to declare lockdowns, if there are 500 or more coronavirus cases per 100,000 citizens. He also called on closing down the whole city after the sharp and ongoing rise in the number of coronavirus cases over the past few weeks.

Madrid has declared strict measures in eight districts that will enter into force starting from Monday. Residents need to avoid extra trips to prohibited zones and across the region.
