President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, who is on a working visit to Brussels, today met with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

President Sarkissian thoroughly touched upon the large-scale military aggression that Azerbaijan unleashed against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) with the military-political support of Turkey on September 27 and the fact that Azerbaijani Armed Forces have targeted the settlements, peaceful civilians and civil infrastructures in Artsakh.

Sarkissian stated that this is taking place through the direct and indirect involvement of Turkey and armed Islamist terrorists that Turkey has brought to the region, which poses a serious threat to stability and security in the region and the world.

Borrell expressed deep concern over the ongoing hostilities and the created situation and emphasized the need to ease the tension, stop the fighting and return to the negotiating table with the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
