Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi told BFMTV that the authorities of the French city have decided to close all Christian churches under an extraordinary regime after an anonymous person attacked passers-by near the Notre-Dame cathedral.

“I have assigned to contact the priests and other clergymen of the city to close all churches in the city and track cities with surveillance cameras,” he said, Gazeta reported.

As reported earlier, an anonymous person had attacked people with a knife and beheaded one of the victis, chanting Islamist slogans.

According to preliminary information, three people were killed, including a priest. The mayor has referred to the crime as a terrorist act.
