YEREVAN. - Opposition activist, chief editor of Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper Nikol Pashinyan was released minutes ago.

His relatives and supporters of the opposition Armenian National Congress gathered near the hospital since morning.

Earlier today another opposition activist, former MP Sasun Mikaelyan was released as well.

In 2010 January Pashinyan was sentenced to 7, 5 years’ imprisonment charged with organizing mass unrests.

Armenian parliament voted for amnesty bill with 91 votes “for” and 1 abstained on Thursday. The amnesty was proposed by President Serzh Sargsyan on 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.
