An officer of Russia’s peacekeeping forces was wounded from a mine explosion while searching for deceased servicemen in Nagorno-Karabakh, an officer of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan was killed and four representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic were wounded as a result of the explosion of ammunition, TASS reported, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Based on the information of the ministry, on November 23, the joint group for exchange of bodies of deceased servicemen, which comprised representatives of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the International Committee of the Red Cross, were conducting a search for the deceased in the Terter region.

“A mine exploded during the search efforts in the area of Mataghis settlement. An officer of the Russian peacekeeping forces was wounded, an officer of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan was killed, and four representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Nagorno-Karabakh received injuries of varying degrees,” the Ministry of Defense reported, adding that the Russian officer was transferred to the hospital in Baku where he is receiving necessary medical aid and his life is not at risk.
