It’s not that easy to resolve the status of Nagorno-Karabakh now, especially after the military and diplomatic defeat that the Armenian party suffered. This is what Deputy of the Russian State Duma, Vice-Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma on CIS, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, there will most likely be politics of facts — it [Artsakh Republic-ed.) will exist de facto; moreover, it will remain unrecognized for a while, and perhaps for a long time. “It would be strange to think that the issue on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh will be raised after all this and will be solved in a way that will satisfy the Armenian party,” he stated.

Zatulin emphasized that the solution to the issue of status won’t favor the Armenian party, if it is considered. “First of all, it is necessary to draw conclusions from the defeat, increase defensibility and resolve the political and economic crisis. Only after that will it be possible to think about how the desired status of Nagorno-Karabakh can be resolved,” the MP concluded.
