The first school was reopened in the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) capital Stepanakert Friday, after the recent war. Artsakh presidential adviser Davit Babayan stated about this in a conversation with Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He added that the university will reopen soon. "During this period, mainly the educational institutions that were least damaged during the war will be opened," he said.

The sign at the entrance of the aforesaid school reads "Thanks to Russia," in Russian. "I do not see anything bad in that sign. If the Russian peacekeepers have come and established peace, should we accuse them? We have to thank [them]," Davit Babayan said regarding this sign.

On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities— which Azerbaijan had launched on September 27—in and around Artsakh. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers are deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
