Snap parliamentary elections are currently more than necessary in Armenia. This is what former acting Director of the National Security Service of Armenia and experienced national security officer Mikayel Hambardzumyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, touching upon the risks posing a threat to Armenia’s statehood and national security.

Hambardzumyan recalled the concerns he had expressed after his dismissal on November 12 and emphasized that he still has the same opinion.

“I still believe there is a need for snap parliamentary elections in Armenia. During those elections, political forces, as well as the Prime Minister will share their approaches that might be acceptable for the people. Only after snap elections will it be possible to form a new and legitimate government and help bring the country of the current situation,” Hambardzumyan said.

On November 8, Hambardzumyan resigned from the post of acting Director of the National Security Service of Armenia. A few days later, Hambardzumyan addressed Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and informed him that Armenia needs to hold snap elections as soon as possible.
