It is impossible that the state does not know the number of those killed, missing, and captured, the second Armenian president Robert Kocharyan told the Armenian TV channel.

"If the government is working with the Red Cross, it’s incredible that the Red Cross does not own these numbers. There may be several more or fewer people," he said.

This is a consequence of lies, he added.

"When the state becomes a liar, the consequences are tragic for every citizen. I said that on the third day of the war I was in Karabakh. These were very difficult days, and back these days 100 people died every day," he said.

According to him, the soldiers' bodies were not needed by Armenia.

"How can you imagine, if, for example, in the first week of the war you already have approximately 700 victims, and you reported only 40 or 50? And suddenly 700 bodies appear in Armenia."

"When there was the first truce, which did not work out, then Azerbaijan referring to the Red Cross announced that it was ready to return the body to the Armenian side in northern Armenia. Ours refused. Why? (...) Our government did not need these bodies. Because with the receipt of these bodies, the lie that was simply presented to our people about the war had to be revealed."

"You can't lie about the war," he added.
