Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN, Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh, called on the international community to condemn the assassination of nuclear physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, highlighting the scientist's invaluable services to the country during the coronavirus pandemic, Tasnim reported.

In a letter to the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, he highlighted the scientist's achievements in the health sector, including the development of Iran's first coronavirus tests and the management of the development of a vaccine against COVID-19.

Hamaneh called the assassination of Fakhrizadeh a measure to continue the policy of maximum pressure on Iran and a shining example of militant state terrorism.

He added that there is no excuse for silence and constant inaction in relation to this murder, as it could lead to the fact that such crimes will become commonplace throughout the world.
