The German Supreme Court on Saturday approved a ban on an anti-coronavirus demonstration to be held in Bremen, Reuters reported.

The courts of the first instance have already rejected an application for permission to protest scheduled for Saturday in the center of Bremen with the participation of 20,000 people.

In November, police used water cannons and pepper spray cans to disperse thousands of anti-coronavirus protesters in Berlin.

While most German residents acknowledge the need to impose restrictive measures amid the COVID-19 second wave. Critics of this decision believe that the restrictions threaten citizens' civil rights.
