According to the department of transportation, there have been about 15 incidents of a fire involving the Kona EV: 11 in South Korea, two in Canada, and one each in Finland and Austria.

Hyundai said in a statement that of its estimated $ 1 trillion recall costs. South Korean won, about 38.9 billion won was associated with the first recall.
