Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu says Turkey, Russia and Qatar are making joint efforts to promote a political settlement of the Syrian conflict, Reuters reports.

After talks with his Russian and Qatari counterparts in Doha, Cavusoglu said the aim of the talks is to discuss how the three countries can contribute to the efforts to find a sustainable political solution in Syria, adding that the three ministers emphasized that the only solution to the conflict is a political settlement that will be in line with UN resolutions.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared that the three countries aren’t seeking to make efforts other than the efforts that Turkey, Russia and Iran have been making since 2017 and added that he can only welcome Qatar’s desire to create conditions to overcome the current tragic situation in Syria.

Qatar’s foreign minister said the mechanisms for delivering humanitarian aid to Syria were also considered during the talks.
