The ruling My Step alliance is planning to make amendments to the Electoral Code. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said in response to MP’s questions during today’s question-and-answer session with government officials.

According to Pashinyan, the parliamentary forces have agreed to hold snap parliamentary elections, but haven’t reached an agreement over the Electoral Code. Pashinyan added that the opposition Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia political parties said they are leaving it up to the ruling party to decide whether the elections will be held through the rating system or through an amended Electoral Code.

Pashinyan also said the My Step alliance decided that it is necessary to make simple amendments to the Electoral Code after leading negotiations with the extra-parliamentary forces and civil society representatives and taking into consideration the commitments that the My Step alliance had expressed in the past, meaning the elections will be held through the proportional electoral system.
