Armenia’s acting Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan today attended the opening of a classroom for Russian language courses at Vazgen Sargsyan Military University.

Among other attendees was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin.

Congratulating the professors and cadets of the University on the opening of the classroom, Harutyunyan stated that the allied ties and high level of military cooperation between the two friendly countries stress the importance of cultural ties, including knowledge of Russian. Harutyunyan reminded that May 9th marks another anniversary of the common victory over Fascism and expressed certainty that the worthy followers of Armenian marshals and military commanders who shaped the victory in the Great Patriotic War will undergo training in the new classroom.

Officers applying to higher military education institutions of the Russian Federation will also add to their knowledge during the Russian language lessons at the University.

The classroom will be named after renowned Russian military commander Alexander Suvorov.
