Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov today held phone talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu, as reported on the website of the Russian MFA.

The foreign ministers expressed serious concern about the escalation of Palestine-Israel relations and in East Jerusalem, first and foremost the premises of the Al-Aksa Mosque in relation to the dangerous increase of tension.

In this context, they condemned the expulsion of the Palestinians from their initial place of residence (Sheikh Zarah district) and, with the spirit of the joint statement by the special representatives of the Middle East Quartet, called on the parties to show restraint and not allow actions that may lead to further escalation of the situation during the sacred month of Ramadan.

According to the agreement of the two countries’ presidents, Lavrov and Cavusoglu also discussed the prospects for organizing the supplies of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine to Turkey and establishing a Sputnik V vaccine factory.

In addition, the parties mentioned the importance of the ongoing efforts for stabilization of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh.
