It’s a great honor for me to be hosted in the Republic of Armenia once again. This is what Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili stated during a joint statement made after his talks with acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today.

Garibashvili particularly stated the following: “Our countries are linked by centuries-old historical and friendly ties. I am certain that the future cooperation will continue with the same spirit as well. Georgia and Armenia stand out with their great histories, unique cultures and interesting traditions, and the future of our countries need to be built on these values.

We agree that all this is achieved only during peace and when there is regional stability. Of course, the whole region faced major difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic on the one hand, and the war in Nagorno-Karabakh on the other hand. I believe there is no alternative to peaceful negotiations and dialogue.

Georgia has always supported peaceful cooperation and co-existence in the South Caucasus, and this course will continue in the future. The Georgian people chose the path to Europe and the Euro-Atlantic region for the purpose of strengthening stability, peace and democratic values. I would like to state that during our meeting today, we discussed all the directions for cooperation. We emphasized that it is necessary to have intensive political dialogue, enhance trade and economic relations, consider new projects and cooperate in directions such as transport, economy, culture, innovations and develop the already intensive relations.

Stability and democratic development in Armenia are extremely important for Georgia and the whole region. We are certain that the snap parliamentary elections will be free and transparent, and the Armenian people will show the world its loyalty to democratic principles once again.

We express willingness to continue the meetings, maintain the dynamics of the high-level reciprocal visits and contribute to the cooperation of the sector-specific government agencies.

Mr. Prime Minister, once again, thank you for the reception and fruitful cooperation.”
