China, Norway, and Tunisia have offered to hold an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday to escalate tensions between Israel and Palestine, Agence France-Presse reported, citing diplomatic sources.

The proposed open meeting will be held with the participation of the Israeli and Palestinian sides, RIA Novosti reported.

According to the agency, this week the UN Security Council has already held two closed meetings in a virtual format dedicated to this issue.

On Monday evening, the situation on the border between Israel and Palestine escalated sharply. Almost continuous rocket attacks killed six Israelis and injured more than 200. Tel Aviv struck Gaza, hitting targets of Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad and killing several militants, including senior warlords. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 67 people were killed in Israeli attacks.
